PRIVACY POLICY FOR CASTROL GUARANTEE

Information about the controller

Castrol Limited, whose registered office is at Technology Centre, Whitchurch Hill, Pangbourne, Reading RG8 7QR (registered number 00149435), is responsible for collecting your data.

Collection & use of the personal information

Registration to the CASTROL GUARANTEE website is completely voluntary. To the extent that you do, we rely on your active consent to process the personal data you provide us, in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

The personal information collected by Castrol on the CASTROL GUARANTEE portal includes your name and contact details, as well as your vehicle registration number, mileage, make and model.

Your personal data will only be used for the purposes of administering the guarantee, assessing your eligibility to the guarantee, and contact you with information on Castrol’s additional products and/or services if you have opted in thereto. For more information see the “Direct Marketing” section below.

In the event of a claim, BP may also request scans or photos of the invoice from your vehicle service, copies of your vehicle service records and/or proof of ownership.

Lastly, if you decide to contact us via the online contact form on our website, you will be asked to submit the limited personal data which is necessary for us to handle your query.

Direct marketing

BP may send you marketing communications by email, in line with your marketing preferences expressed at the point of registration. If you no longer wish to receive such communications, please follow the opt-out instructions contained at the end of each marketing communication.

Recipients of the personal information

In order to run and administer the CASTROL GUARANTEE database and portal, Castrol uses the services of third party service providers, who might be granted access to your personal information (e.g third parties who provide technical support, process claims on our behalf, and send out our marketing communications where you have opted in). Where we use the services of such third-party service provider(s), any disclosure of your personal information will be on a strict need-to-know basis and will be subject to the third party acting only on our instructions and in accordance with the contractually required security measures. In accordance with applicable laws, you may ask to see a copy of the relevant contractual clauses protecting your personal data.

We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as required by law, or when disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, request from a regulator or any other legal process served on Castrol.

Transfer of the personal information outside of the European economic area

Castrol may disclose your personal data to other BP entities that may be located outside of the EEA. Where this is the case, your personal data shall remain at all-time protected under BP’s comprehensive, flexible, and global compliance framework which implements appropriate measures and safeguards (including EU standard contractual clauses) to ensure that your personal information is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Where BP’s Data Processors are transferring your personal data outside of the EEA, such transfer will be subject to appropriate safeguards, which may be the standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission.

Cookies and site traffic information

Servers (which may be located outside the EEA) automatically log data about your visit to this website based on your IP address. This information may be logged through the use of cookies or similar technologies.

Your data shall only be kept for as long as your guarantee is still valid, and shall be deleted promptly thereafter.

If you have opted in to our marketing communications, we will keep only your email address and name until you opt-out of such communications or request for your data to be deleted.

Rights of access, rectification and erasure

In accordance with our internal policies you may ask us to provide you with access to any personal data we process about you. If you would like to access your personal information, please contact GDPREurope@castrol.com or use the contact form on the Castrol Engine Warranty Website. You are also entitled to request for any incomplete or inaccurate personal data which relates to you to be corrected.

If you are in the EU, you also have the right to raise a privacy concern with the Data Protection Authority established in the relevant EU country.
