The need for environmentally responsible products that meet the challenges of international marine and shipping legislation must take into account the performance needs of the vessel operator.

Our Liquid Engineers know that improved environmental characteristics have to be balanced with their performance, which is why we develop products to help improve equipment availability through reduced maintenance requirements as well as enhancing safety.

In tests analysing product life, component life, system reliability and environmental performance, BioStat, BioBar and BioTac returned superior results compared to conventional mineral oils. We also help to ensure compatibility with system components and conventional lubricants to simplify the conversion process.

Castrol BioStat

Reduce your environmental impact. Castrol BioStat is formulated to reduce the environmental impact of operational discharges from stern tube and thruster seals and provide superior protection for gears and bearings. BioStat is also approved by all major seal manufacturers, is OSPAR registered and fully compliant with the US 2013 VGP.

Castrol BioBar

Reduce the environmental impact of using hydraulic systems and hydrostatic transmissions with no downtime on changeover. Castrol BioBar is fully compatible with the same elastomers as mineral oils, and provides high levels of protection to pump and motor components, helping to extend component life and increase reliability. Castrol BioBar is OSPAR registered and fully compliant with the US 2013 VGP.
