Jaguar TCS Racing - ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Champions
Congratulations Jaguar TCS Racing for being crowned Season 10 Champions at the 2024 Hankook London E-Prix. Castrol is immensely proud to work alongside the winning team.
Together Jaguar TCS Racing and Castrol have collaborated through extensive technical research both on and off track to develop more circular transmission fluids.
During this season used transmission fluid was collected from the I-TYPE 6, then re-refined using a technique to recover its main constituent base oil. This re-refined base oil was then blended with performance additives to make fresh, more circular EV transmission fluid to run in the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 gearbox. This approach saves waste and we hope to do it again, and again!
Gripping all-electric racing
ABB FIA Formula E is all about the future of e-mobility. Our collective understanding of how we use energy in the next generation of road-going vehicles is being driven by the technological developments made in the world’s fastest all-electric series right now.
To be successful in Formula E means harvesting and deploying energy for high performance competition in the most efficient way through battery power and energy regeneration.
To do this requires sophisticated electric motors that run at significantly more revolutions than traditional combustion engines, and advanced high-friction gearboxes that operate at extremely hot temperatures. All of these need specially-developed EV fluids that can perform effectively in unique and extreme conditions, but are also compatible with components that conduct electricity.
Castrol and Jaguar TCS Racing
Formula E provides the perfect environment for Castrol to collaborate, learn and win on the track while continuing to develop its advanced technology and EV fluids for today’s electric vehicles as well as those that will define the future of the automotive world.
Driving electric performance
Season 10 finished with an electric performance for Jaguar TCS Racing and Castrol. The team won both the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams' World Championship and the newly created Manufacturer's Trophy.
The team will continue to use Castrol’s advanced EV fluids onboard the Jaguar, building on a long and successful motorsport partnership that includes glory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona.
