Fluids for hydraulic systems

A water-based, fire-resistant hydraulic fluid formulated for use in floating drilling and production unit motion compensation systems, including heave compensators and riser, guide line and pod line tensioners. It suits being the operating fluid in closed loop surface blow-out preventer control systems. It is biodegradable and has good oxidation and thermal stability and is extremely resistant to hydrolysis.

The Castrol BioBar range of environmentally responsible synthetic hydraulic oils is an ideal drop-in replacement for conventional mineral oils where the risk of accidental spills or leakage could cause environmental pollution. Selected additives ensure good oxidation stability, good anti-corrosion and anti-wear properties and low aquatic toxicity. BioBar’s high viscosity index and low pour point provides excellent compatibility with elastomeric seal materials.

This HF-D type hydraulic fluid has excellent hydraulic performance and good fire risk protection. It suits applications where temperature limitations or other reasons mean water containing fluids are unsuitable. Designed for use in the electro-hydraulic governor control systems of steam turbines, Anvol PE 46 XC eliminates service problems in high pressure systems resulting from spool valve erosion/corrosion, fluid leakage and loss of response.

Castrol Hyspin AWS hydraulic oil is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with a low zinc containing anti-wear system. It has excellent hydrolytic and oxidative stability and a low tendency to produce sludge and deposits. It protects ferrous and yellow metal components found within a hydraulic system from corrosion.

Suitable for use in hydraulic systems and hydrostatic transmissions incorporating gear pumps, vane pumps, radial or axial piston pumps and motors used offshore, these premium high viscosity mineral oils are enhanced with anti-wear and anti-corrosion additives and a shear-stable viscosity index improver. This helps maintain viscosity over a wide temperature range and means it can be used in different equipment on board. It has excellent hydrolytic stability and separates rapidly from water contamination.

Castrol Hyspin HVI range of high viscosity index (VI) oils is based on an ashless (zinc free) additive system designed to meet and exceed the most exacting performance standards. It suits severely stressed hydraulic systems which require a high level of anti-wear performance and fine filtration. Hyspin HVI offers excellent corrosion protection and outstanding thermal and oxidative stability. It suits systems containing silver components.

Typically used in barrier systems offshore, the Castrol Hyspin Oil range is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors. It is formulated to lubricate high speed and precision machine tool spindle bearings.

The Hyspin VG range of hydraulic oils is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors. It is designed for use in hydraulic systems that do not require anti-wear performance but where rust and oxidation resistance is desirable and is also suitable for pumps with silver-plated components.
