Gas compressor lubricants

Cresta PG range of polyalkylene glycol based compressor lubricants is formulated specifically for the compression of hydrocarbon gases. The ability of these lubricants to withstand dilution by dissolved hydrocarbons allows these lubricants to give excellent protection in the cylinders of reciprocating compressors.

Castrol Perfecto SN 46 is a synthetic hydrocarbon based lubricant developed for the lubrication of industrial gas turbines, gas compressors and other items of rotating equipment where high temperatures are encountered or where the critical nature of the plant demands a premium lubricant to ensure long life and reliable operation with extended periods between shut-downs.

Castrol Cresta VA is a high viscosity mineral oil which gives a highly tenacious low friction lubricant film which is particularly tolerant of water. Additives in Cresta VA thoroughly emulsify water to resist wash-off from metal surfaces and help prevent corrosion and wear when moisture is present. The combination of high viscosity and low friction characteristics makes Cresta VA suitable for use in worm reduction gearboxes.

The Hyspin VG range of hydraulic oils is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors. It is designed for use in hydraulic systems that do not require anti-wear performance but where rust and oxidation resistance is desirable and is also suitable for pumps with silver-plated components.

Castrol Duratec L is a mineral based SAE 40 low ash gas engine lubricant for use in reciprocating compressor crankcases and for cylinder lubrication with pure methane and low discharge temperatures. Formulated primarily for spark ignition natural gas engines which specify low ash formulation and where the gas is largely free from aggressive components i.e. halogens and hydrogen sulfide. The detergent/dispersant additive system helps control deposit formation and improve oxidation characteristics while offering excellent corrosion control and TBN retention.

Castrol Perfecto XEP turbine lubricants are based on premium quality mineral oils enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors to give maximum protection at high temperatures. Their anti-wear additives give additional load carrying properties. Perfecto XEP range is recommended for industrial gas turbines where the lubricant is likely to be exposed to very high localized temperatures.

Castrol Perfecto T turbine oils are based on highly refined mineral oils, with selective additives to improve their inherent high oxidation stability and to protect against corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Castrol Perfecto T oils are primarily intended for the lubrication of steam turbines but are also suitable for water turbines.
