Motorcycle brake fluid is incredibly important. Not only does it have to resist water absorption to prevent vapor lock failures, it has to protect your brake system.
Getting motorcycle brake fluid right
There’s no one answer to choosing motorcycle brake fluid. If you’re a racer, or simply a spirited rider with a sports bike, you really need to go for a high performance brake fluid. These are liquid engineered to resist water absorption and keep performing at even the highest temperature.
On the other hand, if your daily commute involves lots of stop-and-go, or you simply want to keep your motorcycle in great shape for every weekend cruise, you might want to consider the benefits of Dot 4 motorcycle brake fluid.
Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 4
Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 4 is a synthetic brake fluid comprising of glycols and borate esters to achieve a higher boiling point and wet boiling point.
Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 4 is fully compatible with other fluids meeting FMVSS116 DOT 3 and DOT 4 however, in order to maintain the superior performance characteristics of Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 4, avoid mixing with other brake fluids products.
**All conventional brake fluids deteriorate during use. It is strongly recommended thatCastrol Brake Fluid DOT 4 should be changed according to the vehicle manufacturer’s advice. In the absence of such advice, a 2 year change period is recommended.

This product has been formulated from mixed polyalkylene glycol ethers and borateesters together with high performance additives and inhibitors which give ultimatesystem protection:
- Against the effects of corrosion.
- High boiling point temperature to reduce vapour lock.
- The formulation has been developed such that the vapour lock point can be sustained at a higher level than conventional glycol ether based fluids during the service life of the product.

Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 3
Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 3 is designed for use in the hydraulic brake and clutch systems of passenger cars and commercial vehicles with theexception of those systems for which a mineral oil based fluid is recommended (for example, some Citröen systems, for which CastrolResponse LHM+ is suitable and Rolls Royce systems, for which Castrol HSMO Plus is approved).
