bp Awarded BMW Genuine Oil Contract in 2021

bp (February 15th, 2021), a world leading supplier of high-performance lubricants, and the manufacturer of the Castrol Oil Brands, is proud to announce it has been selected as the engine oil partner for BMW and MINI authorized dealers across the US, Canada, and Mexico.  This new five-year agreement re-establishes a long-standing partnership between these two premium brands as Castrol had been the engine oil supplier over a 14-year span. 

 

As part of the recent program, bp will continue to produce BMW Group’s branded engine oils which meet the OEM’s most recent and rigorous engine specifications including LL-17 FE+ and LL-12 FE as well as older generation specifications such as LL-01 and LL-04.  The BMW branded lubricant formulations are based on Castrol EDGE, a leading full synthetic brand strengthened by Fluid Titanium Technology which increases film strength, reduces friction, and improves lubrication under the intense pressure of high output engines.

What is BMW group branded engine oil?

Original BMW Group Engine Oil is a range of engine lubricants specifically formulated to meet the needs of BMW and MINI vehicles and branded Twin Turbo Power.


Who makes BMW group engine oil?

bp (the manufacturer of the Castrol brand) was recently selected to resume supply of BMW Group Engine Oil in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Castrol had been the supplier over a 14-year span and has resumed supply as of February 2021.

 

What are the available viscosity grades of BMW group engine oil?

The four available viscosities for the BMW Group Engine Oil are: 10W-60, 0W-20, 0W-30 and 5W-30.

 

Are BMW group engine oils full synthetic?

Yes. In order to meet the critical performance, protection and fuel economy specifications of these high output engines, premium group III base oils were required. All BMW Group Engine Oils are full synthetic.

 

Do BMW group vehicles require special oil?

BMW Group vehicles require engine oils that meet the specifications developed by BMW, which vary depending on the make, model, and year of the vehicle. All BMW Group engine oils meet BMW Group specifications for all Group engines. Consult your owner’s manual for the engine oil specification required.
