Supercheap auto staff incentive Competition 

Terms and conditions 

Promoter

Castrol New Zealand Ltd (NZBN 9429049090659), having its principal office at Level 2, Stantec Building, 105 Carlton Gore Road, Newmarket, Auckland 1023, New Zealand

Competition Period

12.01am (NZDT) on 24/11/2024 to 11.59pm (NZDT) on 21/12/2024.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to:

  • active Supercheap Auto Store Managers across New Zealand (Store Managers) in respect of the Supercheap Auto store (Store) at which they are employed;
  • Supercheap Auto Area Managers (Area Managers) in respect of Stores in the area they manage; and 
  • Supercheap Auto Trade Sales Team Members (Trade Sales Team), 

who are aged 18 or over (together, “Participants”).

Who can’t enter?

Directors, officers, management and employees (and their immediate families) of:

a) the Promoter; and

b) the agencies, companies or participating premises associated with this competition (apart from a Store),

are not eligible to enter this competition.

What does a Store need to do to enter?

To enter, a Store must, during the Competition Period:

a) increase sales volume (by share) of Castrol products during the Competition Period compared to the same period last year (i.e. between 24/11/2023 and 21/12/2023 inclusive), based on the Super Cheap Auto's sales figures (Competition Period Growth); 

b) display (and keep on display throughout the Competition Period) all of the in-store POS promotional material of the 'Win your dream car worth $100,000 consumer promotion” (as provided by the Promoter) in a creative way; and

c) take a photo of the display during the Competition Period and the Store Manager must send the photo in an email to their Area Manager during the Competition Period.

A representative of the Promoter may also attend Stores to see if all of the Entry Requirements listed above have been successfully fulfilled.  If the Promoter is not satisfied that the Store has fulfilled the Store Entry Requirements (whether assessed on the basis of a Store visit or otherwise), the Store may be disqualified in the Promoter's absolute discretion.

Once the Promoter determines that you have successfully fulfilled the Store Entry Requirements listed above, your Store will automatically receive an entry into the competition.

What does an Area Manager need to do to enter?

To enter, an Area Manager must, during the Competition Period:

a) increase sales volume (by share) of Castrol products in their area during the Competition Period compared to the same period last year (i.e. between 24/11/2023 and 21/12/2023 inclusive), based on the Super Cheap Auto's sales figures (AM Competition Period Growth); 

b) ensure Stores display (and keep on display throughout the Competition Period) all of the in-store POS promotional material of the 'Win your dream car worth $100,000 consumer promotion” (as provided by the Promoter) in a creative way; and

c) share photos of the POS displays with the Super Cheap Auto Category team.

The Super Cheap Auto Category team will collate the data to be presented to the Super Cheap Auto Retail Operations team. 

A representative of the Promoter may also attend Stores to see if all of the Area Manager Entry Requirements listed above have been successfully fulfilled. If the Promoter is not satisfied that the Store has fulfilled the Area Manager Entry Requirements (whether assessed on the basis of a Store visit or otherwise), the Area Manager responsible for said Store may be disqualified in the Promoter's absolute discretion.

Once the Promoter determines that Area Managers have successfully fulfilled the Area Manager Entry Requirements listed above, the Area Manager will automatically receive an entry into the competition.

What does a Trade Sales Team Member need to do to enter? Trade Sales Team Members who sell a minimum of $250 in Castrol products (instore (PLU) products only, excludes special order items) during the Competition Period 28.11.2024 to 22.12.2024. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How many winners will there be and how will they be chosen?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Store Winners

There will be 3 winning Stores.

The 3 Stores that:

a) successfully fulfil the Store Entry Requirements; and

b) record the highest Competition Period Growth percentage (rounded to two decimal places)

with each win a prize.

The 3 winning Stores will be ranked in order from the highest to lowest Competition Period Growth percentage (rounded to two decimal places). That is, the Store with:

a) the highest Competition Period Growth percentage will win the 1st place prize;

b) the second highest Competition Period Growth percentage will win the 2nd place prize; and

c) the third highest Competition Period Growth percentage will win the 3rd place prize.

If a tie breaker is required due to 2 or more Stores achieving the same Competition Period Growth percentage, the winner of the relevant prize(s) will be the Store that activated the 'Win your dream car worth $100,000 consumer promotion” in-store POS material in the most creative way, as determined by the Promoter. 

This will be judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion upon review of the photo the Store took of their display during the Competition Period, based on creativity, originality and brand suitability.

There is a maximum of 1 prize per Store.

Area Manager Winners

There will be 1 winning Area Manager in this competition. All entries will be reviewed and judged by the Promoter, who will select the winning Area Manager that:

a) successfully fulfils the Area Manager Entry Requirements above; and 

b) records the highest AM Competition Period Growth percentage (rounded to two decimal places), 

          will win a prize. 

The Area Managers will be ranked in order from the highest to lowest AM Competition Period Growth percentage (rounded to two decimal places).

That is, the Area Manager with the highest AM Competition Period Growth percentage will win the prize.

If a tie breaker is required due to 2 or more Area Managers achieving the same AM Competition Period Growth percentage, the winner will be the Area Manager that activated the 'Win your dream car worth $100,000 consumer promotion” in-store POS material in the most creative way, as determined by the Promoter. 

This will be judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion upon review of the photo the Stores took of their display during the Competition period, based on creativity, originality and brand suitability.

There is a maximum of 1 prize per Area Manager.

Trade Sales Team Member Winners

There will be 3 winning Trade Sales Teams in this competition.  The 3 winning Trade Sales Teams will be ranked in order from the highest to lowest total sales revenue of Castrol products (instore (PLU) products only, excludes special order items) during the Competition Period (Sales Revenue). That is, the Trade Sales Team with:

a) the highest Sales Revenue will win the 1st place prize;

b) the second highest Sales Revenue will win the 2nd place prize; and

c) the third highest Sales Revenue will win the 3rd place prize. 

If a tie breaker is required due to 2 or more Trade Sales Team member achieving the same Sales Revenue amount, the winner of the relevant prize will be the Trade Sales Team Member that sold the most Castrol product by volume.

All judging decisions are as determined by the Promoter, in its sole and absolute discretion.

There is a maximum of 1 prize per Store, a maximum of 1 prize per Area Manager and a maximum of 1 prize per Trade Sales Team Member.

Store Winners

There are 3 prizes to be won, as set out in the table below.

Store Winner prizes will be delivered to the Store Manager of the winning Store, to be distributed to the winning Store’s employees, in accordance with the following conditions:

  • Bonfire gift cards will be distributed to staff members who were employed by the Store and worked a minimum of 12 hours per week for the entirety of the Competition Period  (Eligible Staff Members); 
  • the Store manager will distribute the Bonfire gift cards in a fair and reasonable manner, and in accordance with any applicable law and/or Store policies;
  • where there are less than 25 Eligible Staff Members, no more than one Bonfire gift card will be awarded per Eligible Staff Member; 
  • the Promoter will not be liable for any decisions with regards to which staff members receive a Bonfire gift card; and
  • the Promoter will not award more Bonfire gift cards to a winning Store if a winning Store has more than 25 Eligible Staff Members.

Area Managers

There is 1 prize to be won for Area Managers. 

The prize is a $350 Castrol Bonfire gift card.

Trade Sales Team Members

There are 3 prizes to be won for Trade Sales Team Members, as set out in the table below.

The Castrol Bonfire gift card is subject to the following terms and conditions: https://www.bonfire.co.nz/conditions-of-use. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the Bonfire gift card are not included.  

Total prize pool

The total prize pool is $14,650.

How many times can a Store/Area Manager/Trade Sales Team Member enter?

 

Stores, Area Managers and Trade Sales Team Members can only enter this competition once. 

How and when will the winner/s be informed?

The Store Manager of a winning Store, winning Area Managers and winning Trade Sales Team Members will be notified by phone and in writing within 7 business days of the end of the Competition Period.

For the avoidance of doubt, refunds and returns recorded during the Competition Period will not affect Competition Period Growth for Stores and Area Managers.

Unclaimed Prizes

Prize claim date: 5pm (NZDT) on 22/01/2025.

If a prize has not been accepted or claimed by the prize claim date above or if, after making all reasonable attempts, the Promoter can't contact a winner (or a winner does not contact the Promoter) by the prize claim date above, the relevant entry/ies will be discarded and the Promoter will re-award the relevant prize/s to the Store and/or Area Manager and/or Trade Sales Team Member who submitted the next best valid entry and who have not already been awarded a prize.

Collection and use of your personal information

If you are a winner of a prize, the Promoter may ask you to take part in some publicity, photography and other promotional activity as the Promoter reasonably requires, without any compensation.  You consent to the Promoter using your name and image in any such promotional or advertising activity. You agree that you will only permit Store employees to take part in publicity, photography and other promotional activity in respect of this competition (if any) where you have obtained their consent to the Promoter handling their information in accordance with these terms.

The Promoter collects personal information about you in order to conduct and manage the competition. If the personal information requested is not provided, you may not be able to participate. 

The Promoter’s Privacy Policy (available at https://www.castrol.com/en_nz/new-zealand/home/privacy-statement.html) states:

a) how you can seek access to the personal information the Promoter holds; and

b) how you can complain about a breach of privacy and how the Promoter will deal with such a complaint.  

If you are an Eligible Store Employee who has been nominated to receive a prize and provide personal information, you consent to the use of your personal information in this manner, and as provided for under the Promoter’s Privacy Policy.  

1 These Terms and Conditions incorporate and must be read together with the details outlined in the table above.  Information about prizes and how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions.  By entering, or agreeing to receive a prize, you accept these Terms and Conditions.  

 

Entry

 

2 Your entry must be received during the Competition Period and will be deemed to be received only when received by the Promoter.   The Promoter is not liable for any problems with communications networks outside its reasonable control.  You are responsible for your own costs associated with entering.  

 

Prizes

 

3. Prizes and all elements of prizes must be taken as specified, as and when offered and cannot be altered or changed in any way by you or will be forfeited, and if forfeited, the Promoter will not be liable.  If you forfeit the prize or any element of the prize for whatever reason, you will not be given cash or any alternative prize as a substitute. Prize/s are subject to any additional terms and conditions imposed by the relevant supplier or the Promoter, including validity periods.

 

4. The Promoter is not responsible for any dispute between you and any person with whom you choose to, or choose not to, share a prize.

 

General

 

5. Any material failure by you to comply with the conditions imposed by the prize supplier(s) may result in the prize being cancelled or withdrawn without liability for the Promoter or the prize supplier(s). 

 

6. If you or your entry are deemed by the Promoter to breach these Terms and Conditions materially your entry (or at the Promoter's discretion, all of your entries) may be discarded.  The Promoter may, at any time, require you to produce documentation to establish to the Promoter's reasonable satisfaction the validity of your entries and/or verifying your identity (including documentation establishing your identity, age, place of residence and place of employment).  Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not waive those rights. 

 

7. You must not:

a. tamper with the entry process (including but not limited to manipulating the system via bots, script use, or any other means to circumvent the entry process);

b. engage in any conduct that may jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition;

c. act in a disruptive, annoying, threatening, abusive or harassing manner;

d. do anything that may diminish the good name or reputation of the Promoter or any of its related entities or of the agencies or companies associated with this competition;

e. breach any law; or

f. behave in a way that is otherwise inappropriate.  

 

8. The Promoter is not liable for entries, prize claims or correspondence that are misplaced, misdirected, delayed, lost, incomplete, illegible or incorrectly submitted for reasons outside the Promoter's reasonable control.

 

9. If any dispute arises between you and the Promoter concerning the conduct of this competition or claiming a prize, the Promoter will take reasonable steps to consider your point of view, taking into account any facts or evidence you put forward, and to respond to it fairly within a reasonable time.  In all other respects, the Promoter’s decision in connection with all aspects of this competition is final, including in respect of the assessment of Competition Period Growth, AM Competition Period Growth, Sales Revenue and any tie-breakers.

 

10. Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged nor redeemed for cash.  Without limiting any other term of these Terms and Conditions, all prizes (and elements of prizes) must be taken as and when specified, or will be forfeited with no replacement.  The prize values are correct as at the date of preparing these Terms and Conditions and include any applicable GST.  The Promoter is not responsible for any change in prize value.  You agree that if a prize (or element of a prize) is unavailable for any reason the Promoter may provide another item of equal or higher value. 

 

11. If this competition cannot run as planned for any reason beyond the Promoter's control (for example due to software, hardware or communications issues, unauthorised intervention, tampering, fraud or technical failure, government directives, a pandemic, public health orders and the like), the Promoter may end, change, suspend or cancel the competition or disqualify affected entries/entrants. Where it is practical for it to do so, the Promoter will notify you of such changes.

 

12. The Promoter is not responsible for any tax implications arising from you winning a prize.  You should seek independent financial advice.  

 

Liability

 

13. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions restricts, excludes or modifies any consumer rights under any statute including the Fair Trading Act 1986 (Non-Excludable Rights).

 

14. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the greatest extent allowed by law), including liability under the Non-Excludable Rights, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) the agencies and companies associated with this competition excludes all liability (including in negligence) for any personal injury, illness or death, or any loss , expense or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition and competition or any prize, including without limitation (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged, or misdirected due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation of the prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; (f) use of a prize by any person.   

 

15. Without limiting the previous paragraphs, the Promoter and the agencies and companies associated with this competition are not liable for any loss of, damage to or delay in delivery of prize/s, or for any damage that occurs to displayed prize/s (where relevant), due to circumstances beyond the Promoter's reasonable control.  Unless otherwise specified, prize/s will only be delivered to addresses in New Zealand.
