After months of anticipation, Castrol has pulled the covers back on the brand new Gen3 Tickford Ford Mustang ahead of the 2023 Supercars season opener in Newcastle. The No. 55 Castrol Racing Ford Mustang features the iconic green and red, and will once again see sophomore driver Thomas Randle behind the wheel.
2023 will mark Randle’s second year in the Supercars main game, and marks an opportunity to continue to grow off the back of a rookie season that showed plenty of promise despite more than its fair share of challenges. Randle is keen to continue to show his talent, aboard the new-for-2023 Gen3 Castrol Racing Ford Mustang backed, as the sport takes its next step into the future.
“2022 was definitely a roller coaster of year for myself, we had some great moments, and also plenty of challenging ones as well. I certainly learnt a lot and I am really keen to take those lessons into this next generation of cars and move forward,” Randle said. “I felt like we were really starting to show our potential at the back end of the season so I’m looking forward to continuing that momentum with my engineer Ray (Lau) and the whole Car 55 crew. It’s exciting to be a part of this next generation car, it should be great for the fans to see the close racing on track and hopefully they’ll see the Castrol Racing Mustang back at the top.”
The new regulation changes mark a whole new opportunity for continued success for the sophomore talent, whose sights are firmly set on continuing to display his abilities off the back of last year’s learnings.
“I have been working very hard over the off season and the team has been putting in maximum effort in preparing the new cars and working on how we can get on top of them, I feel I’m as prepared as I can be”, Randle added. “With these new regulations, it will be interesting to see each team’s approach. Newcastle will undoubtedly be a great event to have back and it will be a learning curve for everyone, making it a great opportunity for it to be anyone’s game. I’d love to get some great results to reward the team and also our loyal partners and members”
“A massive thanks to Castrol for their continued support, and our partners in BP, Herzog Steel, Ryco, DBA, NTI, Infinium Advisory, ACT Fence Hire, and Team Navy.”
With a partnership spanning more than two decades between Tickford Racing (formerly FPR) and Castrol, hopes are high for 2023 thanks to a talented driver line-up that includes Thomas Randle, Cam Waters, James Courtney and Declan Fraser. It’s therefore no surprise that the sense of excitement for the season ahead is shared by Castrol’s Marketing Director Jotika Prasad who is enthused about the new-look Castrol Racing Mustang.
“The Gen3 Castrol Racing Mustang looks absolutely fantastic and will definitely turn heads on and off-track," Prasad said. "With Thomas closing out the season strong we have every confidence that he’s going to take his late-season form into 2023 and hit the ground running.”
